Q. HOW DO I JOIN OR LOGIN TO BTO?

A.Click the little red avatar on the right hand side of the main menu.

You can then create an account or login in to your current account. Joining is a short and painless process. If you have been sent a join-up link through an affiliate program you must use the page link sent to you to join.

Q. HOW DO I SUBSCRIBE TO BTO Plus+?

A.Start by creating your free BTO account.

You can then subscribe using the "subscribe" widget featured across the site, on the BTO Plus+ page, or in the members area.

Q. HOW DO I ACCESS THE MEMBERS AREA?

A.Click the little avatar icon on the right hand side of the main menu when you're logged in.

Red Avatar = Logged Out / Black Avatar = Logged in, not currently subscribed / Green Avatar = Logged in, active subscription.

Q. I'VE FORGOTTEN MY PASSWORD / I WANT TO CHANGE MY PASSWORD

A.It's easy to create a new password, whether that's because you've forgotten yours, or because you simply want to change it.

Both of these are achieved the same way - firstly you should be logged out. Then click the red avatar symbol (right-hand side of the nav) to open the login 'drawer'. At the bottom of the login box click 'Forgot Username/Password?'. You will then be prompted to enter your BTO registered email, and details of how to reset your password will be sent to that email address.

Q. DO YOU OFFER FREE TRIALS?

A.We do not offer free trials of the complete BTO Plus+ experience.

Instead we give away free BTO Plus+ racecards to registered users every single day, which gives a complete taste of selected races to show the depth of BTO Plus+. These races are selected by our contributors.

Q. HOW DO I PAY FOR A SUBSCRIPTION?

A.All payments are taken through Paypal for industry leading security.

BTO doesn't receive any sensitive information regarding your Paypal account.

Q. I MADE A PAYMENT BUT MY SUBSCRIPTION DOESN'T SEEM TO HAVE ACTIVATED

A.Sorry about that! That is a rare, rare occurrence.

Firstly, please double check in your Paypal account that the transaction completed successfully. If it definately has please contact subscriptions and we'll get this remedied for you as fast as possible (we're pretty quick with these things). To help sort this as fast as possible please email from your registered BTO email address, including your username, which subscription you paid for, the cost (if you used a discount code) and your paypal email address.

Q. IS MY USER DATA SAFE?

A.Yes, your data is safe with BTO.

As you probably noticed from the signup process, we don't actually take much identifying information from you, meaning we don't really have any to store. Payment data is stored in the form of transaction history, but as all payments are made via Paypal's API we don't have access to, and therefore can't store, any sensitive payment information about you either beyond your Paypal username, the date of the transaction, and the value. We've kept our system as simple as possible in this respect! Also remember that due to the fact that you pay via Paypal as and when you need to, and that data isn't viewable or stored, if anyone got into your BTO account, they couldn't actually do anything other than look at racecards or cancel your subscription if you're on recurring plan and you're subscribed. We hope this gives you peace of mind when using BTO.

Q. HOW DO I RENEW MY SUBSCRIPTION?

A.Only our 30-day subscription automatically renews.

All other subscriptions will give you the ability to resubscribe once your current subscription expires the same way you originally did - you can not resubscribe/top-up in advance and there is no renewals page.

Q. HOW DO I CANCEL MY RECURRING SUBSCRIPTION?

A.If you are subscribed to our 30 day recurring subscription you can cancel at any time via the members area.

Your subscription will expire at what would have been your next payment date, and you will not be charged.

Q. DO YOUR SUBSCRIPTIONS COSTS CHANGE?

A.Our subscription costs are fixed in place with no planned price changes.

We offer discount codes from time to time, so keep an eye out on our social media accounts.

Q. HOW DO I USE BTO Plus+? IT LOOKS COMPLICATED!

A.You can learn more about what means what here.

You can also open this glossary whilst in any racecard by pressing either the 'glossary' or 'need help' buttons to the right on any given racecard. There are also tooltips in the title column, accessed by hovering over the question mark. An early starting point is by studying the Top 3 rated horses listed at the top of the card, and understanding why these are our 1-2-3 selection based on the data in the racecard. However - remember these lists are based on statistics - it's still at your discretion how you use the information. Our information is collated from thousands of races across many years to give you as accurate a picture as possible.

Clicking the silk or horse name will open our past performance filter system and will allow you to explore a wealth of information about any given horse, jockey, trainer, sire, dam sire, dam or owner history permitting.

We hope to provide more in-depth guides of how to get the best out of our racecards, including video content, in 2016.

We do not answer tipping questions via email, social media etc.

Q. WHY DO YOU ONLY HAVE FULL BTO Plus+ RACECARDS 48 HOURS IN ADVANCE?

A.Due to the sheer amount of data involved, we often don't have everything required to create an in-depth card any sooner.

We believe that the cards are most useful when accurately populated. You can always access fastcards for races beyond that period.

Q. DO YOU INTEND TO ADD "X" FEATURE TO THE SITE?

A.We're constantly thinking of new ways to add to the value of using and subscribing to the site, and always have updates, fixes, improvements, refinements, new features and the rest in the pipeline, and right now is no exception.

The site will evolve its feature-set over time, and our approach is to keep quiet about these things until they're tested and ready. However, if there's something you would like to see though feel free to let us know. We're always open to exploring suggestions and have some exciting and unique features in mind!

Q. WHAT QUALIFIES A HORSE APPEARING IN 'YESTERDAYS BTO Plus+ WINNERS'?

A.These are horses listed for that race under BTO PLUS+ 1-2-3, or SPEED RATING 1-2-3.

Based exclusively on our historical data of course.

Q. I'VE NOTICED A DATA ERROR

A.Well, that's annoying.

Very, very occasionally you might see a bit of erroneous data on a racecard. If so, feel free to let us know so we can amend it. It's not something that happens often at all, but it doesn't help anyone! Quite often these things get fixed automatically pretty quickly.

Please note that jockey silks may not display in advance on occasion.

Q. THE SITE DID NOT RESPOND/WAS DOWN AND I WAS REPEATEDLY UNABLE TO ACCESS MY SUBSCRIPTION

A.Sorry, we'll make this right.

Due to the sheer amount of data we're processing at all times, these bottlenecks can very occasionally happen, although instances are rare. We're constantly working on BTO to make it as rock solid as physically(digitally) possible to avoid any issues. If you were unable to access the data you subscribed to repeatedly (and were therefore unable to reasonably "use" your subscription) contact support with the times at which you were having problems and your username, from your BTO registered email address. We can check your account activity and confirm any issues via IP matching, and where appropriate, will credit your subscription accordingly to make up for that lost time. We want you get the experience you pay for and take this very seriously.

We cannot action automatic user-wide subscription extensions in these events, so if the above effects you do get in touch.

Q. CAN I GET A REFUND?

A.We now offer partial refunds on both 6 month and 12 month subscriptions only.

If for whatever reason you decide you no longer need your long subscription we're happy to organise a partial refund relative to the amount of subscription used. You'll pay £19.99 per month of your subscription that has passed (our standard monthly rate), with a minimum charge of 2 months deducted if cancelling a 12 month subscription and 1 month deducted for the 6 month subscription. All deductions will be rounded up in full months*, with a grace period of 48 hours at the start of each billable month.

Example 1: You signed up on the 3rd of January, and on the 7th of April you decide to cancel your 12 month subscription. You'll pay £19.99 per month for 4 months (£79.96 total) and your subscription will end on the 4th of May.

Example 2: You signed up on the 3rd of January, and on the 4th of April you decide to cancel your 12 month subscription. You'll pay £19.99 per month for the 3 months that have passed (£59.97 total) and your subscription will end immediately. You won't have to pay for a 4th month because you cancelled within 48 hours of your 4th month starting.

* Month means a period of 30 days

To do this simply contact subscriptions from your BTO registered email account, including your username and Paypal email address (if different to your registered email address). We'll then arrange your refund.

Q. WHAT IS THE BTO AFFILIATE SCHEME?

A.BeforeTheOff's affiliate scheme rewards you for referrals with 50% in cash of the first purchase of any new user who subscribes using your unique link!

That's up to £87 if you get someone to sign up for a year!

A.BeforeTheOff's affiliate scheme is about as simple as can be. Simply create a free BeforeTheOff account!

Your free account includes affiliate privileges, and the materials you need to share your code can be found in your member area by clicking the avatar symbol in the top right. No messing around with separate usernames and passwords, your BeforeTheOff account is all you need to both use BeforeTheOff as a racing enthusiast and also make money sharing the site with others!

A.Simply contact support with your username from the email address you currently have registered with BTO and we can take care of that for you.

Our mobile site is refined for high performance even on a low quality data signal, and because of the ever-changing nature of the content we believe provides just as good an experience as a dedicated app. We may explore apps as an option in future if we believe they will add something to your user experience.
